Leatherwood Honey Tasmania Blue Hills 250g | 8.8oz
Often referred to as the King of Honey and the Honey of Kings, Leatherwood honey’s bold, complex and unique flavour can best be described as “tasting like the rainforest”. This is because the wild rainforests of Tasmania are the only place in the world where the rare Leatherwood tree (Eucryphia lucida) grows and therefore, the only place on earth where Leatherwood honey is produced.
Only 400-1000 tonnes are produced annually in the Tarkine rainforest of Tasmania, which is the largest single tract of temperate rainforest wilderness left in Australia. Only 20 people per year are allowed into this region and Blue Hills Honey represents half of them.
Blue Hills Leatherwood Honey is renowned as a truly premium honey: It has a rich, complex flavour due to the presence of over 363 natural compounds. It maintains 2-3 times more antioxidants than regular honey. Tests have also confirmed high levels of antibacterial hydrogen peroxide activity in Leatherwood honey, a property that sets it apart from Manuka Honey.
Blue Hills Leatherwood Honey received the Monde Selection Grand Gold Quality Award and was rated in the Top 5 World Food Products (Grand Gold Award 2016, 2018 & 2019 Certificate).
